The role:

The post holder will be providing a dedicated Oncology/Chemotherapy Service working with all members of the MDT. To ensure delivery of high standard of care to all patients. To be responsible for coordinating care in clinical area.


  • Ensure that all nursing procedures are carried out in accordance with Hospital Policy.
  • Set, monitor and maintain agreed standards of nursing care in conjunction with other members of the Oncology team.
  • Take responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care as a team leader.
  • Deliver care in accordance with defined quality standards and in line with recommendations as laid down in the Oncology plan.
  • Maintain up-to-date nursing records, ensuring that confidentiality is respected.
  • Use reflective practice as a method of ensuring that appropriate effective nursing care is delivered to each patient.
  • Contribute towards ensuring that Care Standards are met.
  • Promote the Oncology Unit as a centre of excellence.
  • Participate in the audit process and computerised data system.
  • In accordance with The Code (NMC 2015) Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour for Nurses and Midwives and continue to develop and expand your role.
  • Participate in student nurse education and assessment in accordance with the Hospital requirements, in consultation with the Practice Development Nurse.
  • Assist in the induction of new members of staff to the clinical area.
  • Maintain safe environment for patients visitors and other staff
  • To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based nursing practice
  • To understand risk management and governance issues
