Description

Are you an excellent administrator with experience working in a healthcare setting looking for a new job opportunity? Come and join our outstanding nursing wards team as an Ward Administrator.

JOB PURPOSE:

To assist with the smooth running of the ward by providing comprehensive administrative support.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Undertake any ad hoc administration duties when requested by the nursing staff to support the care of the patient and the hospital, including some note taking and minutes when necessary.

Manage any discharge or follow up appointments

To ensure prompt answering of all telephone calls ensuring that all messages are relayed to the appropriate personnel.

To assist with answering patient call systems and locate the appropriate staff.

To arrange outpatient appointments as requested.

To support the administration of the Pre-assessment Clinic.

To retrieve and prepare patient records prior to admission.

To assist with discharge co-ordination, and liaising with external agencies where necessary.

To file and store all patient documentation on completion of stay.

To respond to patient/visitors requests for refreshments.

To maintain a tidy working area, restocking with stationery as appropriate.

Undertake the booking of nursing staff via the bank or agency, under the direction of the senior nurse.

To maintain all ward quality folders, ensuring that they reflect current status in relation to all policies.

To answer all calls directed to the wards and assign to the correct person or deal with as necessary.

Report any faulty equipment to the relevant departments as requested by nurses.

To assist in monitoring activity, and prepare weekly and monthly reports.

To assist in the audit programme, organising medical records and staff in preparation for audits

To participate in Patient Experience initiatives.

To assist with any other administrative duties as required.
