Workplace pension scheme

Aspen Healthcare operates a workplace pension scheme under the government’s automatic enrolment rules. We automatically enroll all eligible employees into a group stakeholder personal pension plan with Scottish Widows.

Members of the pension scheme can access a pension microsite with Scottish Widows. This allows you to manage your policy online. It also provides tools to help you understand your pension and retirement options.

Holiday entitlement

Our aim is for all employees to have a healthy work-life balance. At Aspen Healthcare, employees are eligible for an enhanced annual leave entitlement of 33 days including bank holidays (34 days for Scotland).

Your holiday entitlement increases in line with your service at Aspen Healthcare, up to a maximum after 10 complete years’ service. We have a convenient self-service system for you to book and manage your annual leave.

Maternity, paternity, adoption and compassionate leave are available for permanent staff.

Aspen Healthcare cash plan

The Aspen Healthcare Cash Plan is a company funded benefit to help employees with the everyday costs of staying in good health. This plan allows you to claim back cash towards the cost of certain day-to-day healthcare expenses. They include eye tests, glasses, routine dental care, therapies and hospital treatment.

Personal Group hospital plan

Employees can join our Personal Group Hospital Plan. This is intended to reduce the financial problems sometimes caused by a stay in hospital. You can claim under the plan if you go to hospital for inpatient treatment, day surgery or an outpatient appointment.

Personal Group death benefit plan

If you join our Personal Group Death Benefit Plan, a lump sum is paid to your estate in the event of your death by any cause. This can reassure you that financial support will be available for your spouse, partner or dependants.

Online GP service

As an Aspen Healthcare employee, you can book a telephone or video consultation with a GP at a time that suits you.

You can get advice and reassurance about health issues and ask simple queries through a message service. If appropriate, the online GPs can issue private prescriptions or make open referrals.

Hapi-life wellbeing platform and app

Supporting our employees’ physical, mental, social and financial wellbeing is a priority at Aspen Healthcare. We give you access to the Hapi-life online platform and app. This contains helpful information to improve your overall wellbeing. For example, there are practical tips on managing debt, saving money, reducing health risks and looking after your mental health.

Free gym membership and health club membership discounts

We encourage our employees to keep fit and have a healthy lifestyle. All our employees get a free gym membership with Nuffield Health. You can also save up to 25% off other memberships. Discounts are available at 3,700 gyms, health clubs, leisure centres, boot camps and fitness studios across the UK and Ireland.

Eye care

In partnership with Vision Express, Aspen Healthcare can offer you and your family substantial savings on eye care. The eye care benefit package for employees includes a free eye test when buying eyewear, savings on glasses, contact lenses or sunglasses, and family vouchers.

Employee assistance programme

When you join Aspen Healthcare, you have immediate access to a confidential telephone counselling and legal information service. This operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The experienced, professional counsellors can help with a wide range of personal and work-related problems at any time of the day or night.

You can get practical, easily understandable information about legal issues that may be causing you distress. Information is available on all personal matters, such as domestic problems, personal injury claims, motor-related disputes, property worries and consumer rights.

Employees also have access to an online support web portal. This can help you to balance your home life, work life and emotional health.

Everyday discounts

We offer our employees discounts on everyday purchases. These include groceries, fashion, computers and technology, days out, restaurant meals, items for the home and garden, holidays and entertainment.

You can make savings from well-known household brands, such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Samsung, Apple and many more. Discounts are available in the form of gift vouchers or cards, reloadable cards, e-vouchers and cashback.

Aspen Healthcare employees can also apply for a Blue Light Card. This card gives employees in the NHS, emergency services, social care sector and armed forces discounts when shopping online and in the high street. The discounts are available from large national retailers and local businesses in many categories, including holidays, cars, days out, fashion, gifts, insurance and phones.

Season ticket loan

We offer our permanent employees an interest-free loan to buy an annual bus or rail season ticket. This can help you to save on the costs of commuting to work on public transport over the year. The season ticket loan scheme is also part of our wider company efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

Cycle to work scheme

Aspen Healthcare has partnered with Cyclescheme Ltd to provide a tax-free scheme for bikes. This scheme helps employees to buy a bike and/or accessories for cycling to work.

The cycle to work scheme is a salary sacrifice employee benefit. You give up a small part of your monthly pre-tax salary in exchange for a non-cash benefit (the bike and/or accessories). You can spread the cost over 12 months and save income tax and National Insurance on the part of your salary that has been deducted.

Over 2,000 independent bike shops throughout the UK participate in the scheme. You can save between 32% and 42% on the cost of a bike and/or accessories, depending on your income tax and National Insurance rates.

Home technology and smartphone scheme

Aspen Healthcare has a scheme to help employees buy the latest home technology and mobile phones. You can conveniently spread the cost over 12 months and make savings on National Insurance.

Under the scheme, you can choose from the latest mobile phones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, Smart TVs and games consoles. There is also a range of useful accessories, which can complement your chosen package.

Refer a friend scheme

If you ‘refer a friend’ to work at Aspen Healthcare who is recruited as a permanent employee, you get a cash bonus. The reward payment is up to £1,500 for any clinical role and up to £500 for any non-clinical role.
